"Prayer of a Ball Player"
"Dear Lord, in the battle that goes on through life I ask but a field that is fair, a chance that is equal with all in the strife, a courage to strive and to dare; and if I should win, let it be by the code with my faith and my honor held high; and if I should lose, let me stand by the road and cheer as the winners go by!
And Lord, may my shouts be ungrudging and clear, a tribute that comes from the heart, and let me not cherish a snarl or a sneer or play any sniveling part; let me say, "There they ride on whom laurels rest since they played the game better than I". Let me stand with a smile by the side of the road and cheer as the winners go by!
So grant me to conquer,
if conquer I can by proving my worth in the fray; but teach me to lose like a regular
man and not like a craven, I pray. Let me take off my hat to the
warriors who strode to victory splendid and high, yea, teach me to stand by the
side of the road and cheer as the winners go by!
Faith is not believing that God can - It's knowing that God will.
With the passing of our friend
Rodney Fox over the weekend, the softball community suffers the loss of a bright
young star. But more importantly we all suffer the loss of a great young man who
brought something special to all that knew him. And that's what he will be
remembered for most of all. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and
friends. He will be missed dearly by all. - Eric Fogel, PA Power Fastpitch
Club
I am so sorry to hear about Foxy. My prayers go
out to him and his family. - Bill Oplinger, Summit NJ Men's Fastpitch League
On behalf of all the players and coaches on Malcolm A's we want to extend our sympathies to you and your team on the loss of your teammate. We went through the same thing last year with the loss in January 2004 of Chris Moormann in a car accident which is why we had # 66 on the back of our hats least season. We carried Chris's helmet to all 41 games last year including to Nebraska. We understand and will feel your pain. - Malcolm Miller, Manager Malcolm A's Fastpitch
Foxy was a great young man and one of the nicest
people you would ever want to meet on or off the softball field. This is a
tragic loss for anyone who had the pleasure to meet him. My family and I
send our condolences. - Ted Simes, Bob Hoffman's Fastpitch
The players and families of PA Power/Aqua Specialists Fastpitch would like to
express our deepest regrets for the loss of Rodney ("Foxy"). His youthfulness
brought, and continues to bring, a spark to a bunch of players who's 30 and 40
year-old bodies and minds are showing their age. He was more than just a
teammate; he was a wonderful friend with a glowing personality that we were
privileged to enjoy through the grace of God. Though he will be sorely
missed, his spirit and energy will be felt by all of us for years to come. May
God, his son, the holy spirit and all the saints bless and maintain your family
during your hour of sorrow. - Joe Bosche - The PA Power/Aqua
Specialists Fastpitch Club
